Battle of Allora teams in round 1 cricket

CRICKET: The two Allora clubs will battle it out on a familiar wicket in round 1 of Warwick Cricket Association fixtures.

Railway Hotel Rascals beat Allora in last season's grand final after finishing seventh in fixtures and being third qualifier for the reserve-grade finals.

They beat Sovereign Animals, Inglewood and then Allora in the grand final.

Rascals will play their fifth season in 2017-2018 and all rounder Brad Johnson is again the team captain and organiser.

"If we can get our best team on the field consistently and win the tight games, we could qualify in the top four for the A grade finals as we did two seasons ago,” Johnson said.

Rascals were planning to finalise their team at training at the K.O. Masters Oval at Allora late Thursday.

"We expect most of the players to be available. Gavan Scheiwe always holds the Allora innings together so we will need to dismiss him early ,” Johnson said.

Johnson is wary of Allora pair Stewart Henderson and Nick Morris but won't have to worry about Morris this Saturday as he has an Wattles rugby league footy trip planned.
