Australia Day BBQ to raise funds for emergency services
WARWICK residents are invited to celebrate Australia Day and support the Warwick SES by heading down to Bunnings to buy a snag next Saturday.
The fundraiser is part of a nationwide Bunnings initiative to raise funds for volunteer emergency services.
Team members will run a sausage sizzle with support from SES volunteers.
Funds raised will go directly to support the group.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services deputy commissioner Mike Wassing said he was thrilled Bunnings was continuing to support local volunteer fire brigades and emergency services.
"It is really great to see when the community return the favour by helping to fundraise," he said.
"QFES volunteers such as those from the State Emergency Service and the Rural Fire Service are dedicated members who contribute significantly to supporting Queensland communities before, during and after disasters.
"This support enables the continued improvement of our volunteer services." Bunnings Warwick store manager Debby Stevens, said the fundraiser was a terrific way for team members and all Australians to show their appreciation for the wonderful work done by emergency services volunteers.
"The team is really excited to get behind the barbecue to help raise vital funds for our local SES," Mrs Stevens said.
The fundraiser will run from 9am-4pm at the Palmerin St store, with family activities, games and entertainment.
The SES group will also have a variety of equipment on display.
