Headspace beating the drum on mental health with Westpac
HEADSPACE services in Warwick are set for a boost following a $7000 grant from the Westpac Foundation.
The grant will go towards a new program - Drumming for Resilience, Understanding and Mindfulness (DRUM).
The DRUM program is targeted at increasing awareness of mental health issues.
Headspace Warwick manager Sophia McLucas said the headspace team were really greatful and very excited to have the funding to deliver the DRUM program.
"It will help us reach out to young people who may be apprehensive about seeking help, benefiting the young people individually and also increasing understanding and awareness of mental health issues in the community," she said.
Money from the grant will be spent on training staff to deliver the DRUM program in schools and community group, as well as purchasing equipment.
Since 1999, the foundation has donated nearly $30 million to local communities across Australia.
Westpac Regional General Manager of Retail Banking Cara Jones said she was thrilled to present the grant to headspace Warwick.
"headspace Warwick has ground-breaking social ideas for change in Warwick and Stanthorpe providing much needed support to youth," she said.
"We're delighted to be helping headspace Warwick achieve their goals and to enable them to continue in their unwavering support towards Warwick and Stanthorpe."
