Bec and Ginger eye off round 2 in the Warwick Gold Cup
CAMPDRAFTING: Glenmorgan rider Bec Hayes goes into round 2 of the Pryce's EasiFeed Warwick Gold Cup final tomorrow morning with a share of the lead.
Bec has 90 on Ginger, a score they share with seven other horse-and-rider combinations.
Ginger is a nine-year-old Seligman Spin mare owned by Paul McInnerney and Chris Johnson, from Surat.
Bec has previously placed in the ladies' draft in Warwick but is back this year after missing some Warwick campdrafts in recent years.
"I am riding two horses in Warwick. Ginger was offered to me to ride and I have fallen in love with her, we have a fair bit of fun,” she said.
Bec has won a maiden with Ginger in the Northern Territory and was second on the same mare in the Australian Campdraft Association national finals in the open at St George last year.
While she and husband Michael live a fair way from Warwick, they are regular visitors as children Shayne, Demi and Jack have all attended The Scots PGC College.
Demi is contracted with the Australian Rugby Union in sevens rugby but won't be in Warwick this weekend for the interstate sevens women's games or to watch her parents campdraft.
Michael Hayes has three horses qualified for round 2 of the cup.
