Former Council Manager: Bellingham right on council
A FORMER Southern Downs Regional Council manager has backed former Mayor Ron Bellingham's call for change in the council.
Adam Colrain, who served as the manager of design and assets, echoed the former Mayor's comments about division in the current council.
Commenting on the Warwick Daily News website, Mr Colrain said the current councillors struggled to work together as a cohesive board of directors.
"There are increasing numbers of issued raised in Council meetings that are being differed and not been communicated effectively with the community," he wrote.
"As a former senior manager with Council I witnessed one of Mr Bellingham's greatest struggles in Council meetings - the perceived lack of respect to the mayoral position of a number of councillors.
"It has clearly shown the lack of true leadership of councillors."
With the election just five months away, Mr Colrain called for change when Southern Downs residents go to the polls.
"We have a majority of existing councillors seeking re-election, as a result there will be little movement in the lead up to the election," he wrote.
"It is now time for the community to evaluate the performance of council since the last election.
"I can only hope we see quality candidates that have experience in local government and true passion for the community stand in the 2016 election."
