Tapp takes the top prize at the Black Toyota Gold Cup
SPECTATORS held their breath as the Black Toyota Gold Cup went into a sudden death round between Katherine rider Ben Tapp and Goondiwindi rider Terry Hall.
There was one point the difference that saw Tapp take the top prize.
Tapp, riding Cool Dust, had a final score of 363.
Terry Hall on Hazelwood Conman was on 362, and Peter Connor riding Takimpter Grouse on 271 in third place.
In fourth place was Hugh Miles on Conductor with 267 points, Michael Hiscock on The Ranch Magic Bar with 266, Lachlan Maxwell on Polish with 266, Peter Comiskey on Response with 265, Ben Hall on Foot Acre with 263 points, Ian Laurie on Glenmore Partnership Jag with 262 and Tom Williamson on Serene Acres with 262.
The showgrounds roared with applause as the Melbourne Cup of Campdrafting came to a close in what was one of the closest results in the event's history.
