Benn bats well in memory of cricket mate

CRICKET: Wheatvale scored the winning runs with six overs left in the Condamine Cup clash with Warwick Hotel Colts at Slade Park on Saturday.

Batting first, Colts made 6-195 off 40 overs.

The Colts players wore black armbands in memory of premiership-winning Killarney captain Pat Boyle who was farewelled at a large funeral at Killarney on Friday.

Maugan Benn was a pallbearer at Pat's funeral and his long-time family friend would have been proud of his top scoring with 55 on Saturday.

Mitch Watson backed up Benn with an unbeaten 46 and Adam Byrne made 29.

Kieran Jordan was the best of the Wheatvale bowlers with 3-37 off eight overs.

Wheatvale replied with a winning score of 5-207 off 44 overs, Brendan Malone setting up the win with 58.

Jordan made 60, James Breen 33 and Carter Bilbrough 29.

Thomas Fern was the best of the Colts bowlers with 2-5 off two overs.
