Bernadine gets kids singing

BERNADINE Bradshaw is working on a children's album and is short just one thing every good singer needs - back-up vocals.

This Easter break, Mrs Bradshaw will be holding singing and music workshops for children and the 50 youngsters will be able to have their voices featured on the upcoming album.

The experienced music teacher, who has taught at Warwick East State School, St Joseph's in Stanthorpe and The School of Total Education, said the album will feature music from many different cultures.

She said she was inspired to do the album after watching the positive reaction the students had to international music.

"After doing these kinds of songs in the classroom, I realised the kids loved them but you never hear them," she said.

"And I think hearing the songs also helps make you more open and accepting of other cultures."

The three-day workshop will be held from Tuesday, April 9 until Thursday, April 11 and the backing vocals will be recorded on the third day.

The cost is $30 per student and the two age groups are 8-12 and 13-16.

Tickets are available at Pure Heaven in Palmerin St and more information can be found at onetreemusic.com.au.
