Betty is the best scrapbooker

THE standard was high for judges to decide on the best scrapbooking at the Warwick Show yesterday with Betty Neal surprised to take out Champion.

Her Champion piece was in the Family Section, where she used a photograph taken at a recent wedding and her work and detail in the piece made it stand out.

“I was blown away because there is a couple here that are magnificent,” Mrs Neal said.

“I got Reserve Champion a few years ago and I never thought I could win Champion.”

She is a keen scrapbooker and entered in nearly every section at this year’s show where she also got a first place, two second places and one third.

Scrapbooking chief steward and sponsor Dawn Jordan said the standard was very high this year although entries where down a bit compared to last year.

“Judging was very hard with the standard of the exhibits,” Mrs Jordan said.

“There were a lot of new faces which is always good and the children have done a brilliant job.”

There were a lot of great entries in the junior sections with Warwick Glennie Heights State School and Warwick East State School pupils putting in a few entries.

“Kids are brilliant when it comes to scrapbooking... they aren’t limited by anything,” Mrs Jordan said.

“There is no right or wrong here, they are all perfect and an expression of someone’s life.”
