BFFs become new mums on the same day

THE one thing friends Erin- Pearl Doherty and Danielle Cowell never expected to do together was bring their daughters into the world together.

Best friends since Year 8, the first-time mums welcomed their bubs on October 5 within two hours of each other, despite having exactly a month between their due dates.

"At Easter we told one another we were pregnant," Mrs Doherty said.

"Danielle was due on September 26 and I was due on October 26.

"We joked through the pregnancy that we would end up having our babies on the same day but thought the chances of it actually happening were slim.

"My daughter, Olivia, was born 5.04 on the morning of October 5 and Danielle's daughter Arabella (Hutton) came at 6.40am.

"My birthday is October 3 and Arabella's dad Brent has his birthday on October 6 so it was pretty special.

Despite being at separate hospitals - Ms Cowell at Warwick Hopsital and Mrs Doherty at St Vincent's in Toowoomba - the pair said they helped each other through the arrival of their daughters.

Both women said they were thankful to have the other's support.

"We were actually induced at the same time, 12.30 on the afternoon before," Ms Cowell said.

"We were messaging one another and Erin-Pearl thought I'd already had my baby because I stopped."

"I have Type 1 diabetes so had to be in Toowoomba but, if it wasn't for that, we would have been sharing a labour ward," Mrs Doherty said.

"I didn't know I was having a girl so I was thrilled when they told me because I knew Danielle was having Arabella.

"We've been going through a lot of things together and we try to catch up for a weekly vent.

"It's nice we can bounce off each other like that."

Though young, the women said they were confident their daughters would be as good friends as they were.

"They'll grow up together so they won't have much choice," Mrs Doherty said. "We hope they'll be best friends."
