Big acts announced for Jumpers and Jazz
JUMPERS and Jazz preparations are well underway, with a number of acts confirmed to perform.
This year's festival will be held from 19-29 July, and a few familiar faces are preparing to make the journey to the Rose City.
Dezzie D and the Stingrayz, The Well Swung Daddies and the Mal Wood band have all been confirmed to make a return to the famous festival.
Committee president Dan Noble said the music talent on offer was a coup.
"A lot come in each year, and once we start getting names, it's great,” he said.
"There is a lot of local talent. There's a range of music, and it is a very musical town.”
Mr Noble said the support of the community has struck a chord since taking over the position.
"It's encouraging to have that support,” he said.
"It's not just something they know about, but something they think about.
"It really gives you the sense of a community feel.”
The first meeting of the new committee was held this week, and Mr Noble said it was key to getting things in motion.
"Now we know our portfolio areas, we're looking to our member base to get involved as volunteers,” he said.
"Everything is fitting like a glove at the moment. You rarely get something that gels so well.
"Sponsorship is a big area, so we're working on a package to take out and start approaching businesses with.
"Just from getting out and talking to businesses in the CBD, the feedback and suggestions we have been getting is great.”
