Big man in red welcomed by Christmas carols

BELOVED classic carols and modern renditions will ring through Killarney for the annual Killarney Lions/Red Cross Christmas in the Park this Friday.

Held from 6-8pm at Canning Park, the free event will feature a stellar line-up of performers including Bruce Halter, the Killarney Community Choir and Rod Petersen, who will sing with his grandchildren.

Santa will also pop in to say hello.

Organiser John Towells said is was a good opportunity to get together before Christmas.

"We do it for the community so they can get out and enjoy themselves for the night,” he said.

"We've been doing it now for over 25 years.”

The Lions Club will cook up the hamburgers and will also have cold drinks on offer.

For a sweet finish, the Red Cross will have its popular ice cream and fruit salad combination on hand.

Mr Towells said the winner of the Killarney Christmas Lights Competition will also be announced on the night.

For those who still wish to enter, they can do so at Killarney Newsagent by paying a small $5 fee.
