'Bill Shorten to win debate, Coalition to lose 11-15 seats'

MALCOLM Turnbull's Coalition will lose 11 to 15 seats to Labor in the 2016 election, according to the bookies.

Sportsbet.com.au has the Coalition that many seats priced as the $2.95 favourite.

The Coalition losing 6 to 10 seats is next at $3.50, no net seat losses is an unlikely $51, with 26 or more seats lost priced at $11.

Among the seats expected to fall from the Coalition's grip to Labor are Deakin in Victoria, Capricornia and Petrie in Queensland, Eden-Monaro and Macarthur in NSW, Hindmarsh in South Australia, Hasluck in Western Australia, Lyons in Tasmania and Solomon in the Northern Territory.

The Coalition remain $1.33 favourite to win the election, with Labor holding at $3.25. Punters still can't split the two, with more money on the Coalition but more bets on Labor.

The biggest bet on the Coalition in the last 48 hours was $1,400 at $1.33 for an $1,862 return, while for Labor it was $1,000 at $3.25 for a potential $3,250 payout.

Bill Shorten is the punters pick for Friday night's first debate, with all the money coming in for the Labor leader at $1.70, while Turnbull remains the $2.05 outsider.

Mr Turnbull and Mr Shorten will take questions from 100 undecided voters in the debate in Sydney.

Mr Shorten wanted the event to be held in North Queensland but Mr Turnbull refused.

Mr Turnbull has promised there would be multiple debates during the campaign.

The forum will be at 7:00pm at the Windsor RSL in the western Sydney seat of Macquarie, held by Liberal MP Louise Marcus.
