Bill's 'baby' a work of the heart
BILL Greer described the Warwick Peace Garden as his baby and he'll be watching proudly as the Rose City sanctuary officially opens this month.
"I have been at this project since the beginning," Mr Greer said.
"I designed it and everything."
Years of fundraising and hard work have seen Mr Greer's vision materialise and mayor Ron Bellingham will be on hand to recognise the achievement of the gardening guru and the rest of the Friends of Warwick Peace Garden contingent.
Group member Lenore Neville said the idea started in 2004 and grew from there.
"It was during the lead-up to the first Peace Festival," she said.
"We had lots of community consultation and they said they wanted something like this."
The patch of land was transformed with water features, sandstone sculptures and an intricate dove mosaic.
"We won the Australia Day award for outstanding community project in 2010," Mrs Neville said.
