AN ELDERLY Sydney man, suspected of shooting his building manager during a bitter strata meeting, remained in a critical condition, under police guard on Friday.

Police believe the 85-year-old took the extreme action of shooting the 66-year-old manager after tempers flared at the meeting at a Lakemba unit block on Thursday night.

A struggle ensued and both men were taken to hospital but the manager was expected to be released on Friday.

The Herald reported the disgruntled, alleged shooter, was a collector of vintage firearms.
