Blazing night show set for Killarney

FIRE-breathing dragons towered over roadsters, multi-coloured fish, a very hot teapot, a fiery female and 25 other fabulous fire drums and one very happy crowd at last year's Killarney Bonfire Night.

Event Coordinator Louise Brosnan said they create so much joy for children and adults alike.

"It is marvellous to see how inventive each of the different creations are," she said.

Ms Brosnan is inviting amateur and professional fire drum creators to create their own fire drum and get involved in this year's Bonfire Night on Saturday, July 18.

"I can't say Killarney started the fire pit trend," Ms Brosnan laughed.

"But it seems people definitely know now what a fire drum is now.

"Sometimes you even see them on home renovating shows."

Ms Brosnan said safety and warmth of the drum are the key things to consider along with a creative design.

"All drums are assessed for safety prior to being lit. The Family Drum category is for families and friends who don't want to compete but just want to stay warm and be part of the fun", Ms Brosnan continued.

Ms Brosnan invited creators, and others, to gather family and friends around a warm fire for a night of fun, food and entertainment and be amazed by the fiery creations.

The event will run from 4.30pm to 9pm at the Killarney Polocrosse fields.
