Jarrod Bleijie accuses Wellington of being Palmer's puppet
SUNSHINE Coast Independent MP Peter Wellington has been accused of being Clive Palmer's puppet by Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie.
"Peter Wellington needs to come clean about who he's working for,'' Mr Bleijie said in a statement released to the Sunshine Coast Daily.
"Is he really representing the people of the Sunshine Coast or is he Clive Palmer's puppet?
"He shared the stage at Clive Palmer's campaign launch, he endorsed him in TV ads and now there's revelations he wants to form an alliance and has even tried to poach LNP MPs for him.
"Peter Wellington is supporting a man who doesn't care about the hundreds of staff who have been laid off and the business lost at his Coolum resort.
"The Member for Nicklin has questions to answer about what Clive Palmer has offered him for his support.
"He's become Weather-vane Wellington because you don't know what he stands for or who he's working for.
"Peter Wellington also previously wanted to be in Labor's ministry.
"He also supported the Government's anti-criminal gang laws yet now he's supporting the gangs.
"Peter Wellington flips flops on every important issue.
"One thing consistent about Peter Wellington is his inconsistency.''
The statement came after Mr Wellington has been highly critical of the Newman government, particularly Mr Bleijie's handling of the bikie laws which have also been condemned by wide sections of the legal fraternity.
Mr Wellington is a former policeman, solicitor and Coast councillor.
He gave Labor the balance of power to allow it to form government under Peter Beattie, despite coming from the conservative side of politics.
