Blessing to pets at altar

ONE Warwick church will resemble the setting of Noah's Ark this weekend, as Warwick pets head for the altar.

St Mark's Anglican Church will hold a pets blessing service at 8.30 Sunday morning, for all animals great and small.

Assistant priest Reverend Donna Petersen said everyone was welcome to attend.

"We are celebrating the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, who was the patron saint of animals and the environment," she said.

"It will recognise the connection with our pets and animals and we will honour that with a blessing.

"This one will be a good one this year because we have a couple of girls who go to pony club and they want to bring their horses."

Rev Petersen said it was a great way to make connections with others.

"Even if people are nervous and unsure about church, they always want the best for their pets and want to thank God for what they have in their life."
