The Block cliffhanger: final challenge scores on hold

THE final reserve prices have yet to be set on The Block.

Tonight's show finished just before host Scott Cam revealed the total scores for this season's final challenge, which saw the four teams split into two groups to renovate two fans' houses.

The seven-day challenge was finally completed with the finishing touches put on the backyards and the judges casting their discerning eyes over the two houses.

Joining the three regular judges - Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer - was real estate guru John McGrath.

The judges called house one, renovated by the twins and Steve and Chantelle, young and fresh but questioned the lay out of the living and dining areas.

They also slammed the two bathrooms the teams delivered.

"I think they've missed the mark in terms of the planning of the space," Whitaker said of the en suite.

"I would have thought by this stage they (the twins) would know which boxes to tick."

Going into tonight's final score reveal Kyal and Kara and Brad and Dale had a 1.5 point lead on the other two teams.

After the judges deemed their kitchen one of the best seen on any season of the show, the two teams maintained their lead.

"This will be Dawn's dream kitchen. It's the kitchen she's wanted all her life and she's got it," Whitaker said.

With the scoreboard as it stands Brad and Dale and the Super Ks have a two-point lead over the other two teams.

The final challenge winners and the final reserve prices will be unveiled tomorrow night when the scores for the final three spaces are announced.

The Block: Fans vs Faves grand final will then air on Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 9/WIN.
