UPDATE: Woman's body discovered on Far Beach in Mackay

Update, Wednesday, 8.25am: 

POLICE say the woman who was found on Far Beach on Tuesday appeared to be in her 70s. 

A QPS spokeswoman said they were still determining an exact age. 

The spokeswoman said police were preparing a non-suspicious death report for a Coroner.

Initial, Tuesday, 5.08pm: 

POLICE have located a dead person on Far Beach in East Mackay.

A Queensland Police Services spokesman said the body washed up on the beach at about 2pm on Tuesday afternoon.

He said the death didn't appear to be suspicious.

Police are attempting to identify the body and are not yet releasing details about the person's age or gender.

Police and Queensland Ambulance Services are on the scene on Kippen St, with the section of beach closed off to the public.

More information is expected to be released soon.
