Bonanza weekend for Warwick darts
FORMER Queensland darts captain Barbara McGarry was upbeat about the success of the Adam and Eve Tournament in Warwick at the weekend.
“The venue at WIRAC is absolutely fantastic,” McGarry said.
“The Adam and Eve competition is the best in Queensland.”
The biggest news in Australian darts in recent months was the runner-up finish by former Adam and Eve player Simon Whitlock in the world titles.
Whitlock was a regular at tournaments in south-east Queensland when he played for Redcliffe and Pine Rivers.
Queensland Darts Association life member Ian Lacey said a lot of players at the tournament would have beaten Whitlock in singles matches.
“Simon had a lot of wins too. Darts is a sport in which players at higher levels can be beaten by lower level players,” he said.
Event organiser Yvonne Carmody was high in praise of volunteers who worked 12 hours on Friday to prepare the venue.
