Bonfires set to light up Killarney night

A GREAT winter's evening set to warm the whole family is the Killarney Bonfire Night tomorrow.

Kicking off at 4pm at the Killarney Polocrosse fields there's a jumping castle for the kids and prizes for the best fire drum.

For all those visitors to town - a fire drum is an old fashioned outdoor heater - it's basically a 44 gallon drum with a couple of holes in it.

But for the Bonfire Night the drums are hotted up and turned into functional works of art.

A giant bonfire will also be lit early in the evening with the Killarney Rural Fire Brigade overseeing the blaze.

Bruce Halter's catchy country rock will entertain locals and visitors warming up around the fire drums and trying their luck in the huge multi-draw raffle.

This great family event showcasing local talent is just $10 for adults and free for children under 16.
