Bonwick in contention for Gemini state championship

FORMER Warwick driver Gary Bonwick will be in the thick of things this weekend at Morgan Park in the hotly contested Gemini series in the CAMS Queensland Motor Racing Championships.

Bonwick, who now lives in Toowoomba, will be one of 124 drivers to contest the state championship meeting run by the Warwick and District Sporting Car Club.

Motor racing commentator Bob McGee said this bumper-to-bumper, door-handle-to-door-handle Gemini section had no beg pardons.

"Panel beaters are having plenty of work after each race meeting," McGee said.

Bonwick will bring out the car he is preparing for his son to drive in the near future.

His record in HQ Holdens in unequalled with two national title victories, two seconds, two thirds and multiple Queensland titles.

McGee said Bonwick had raced Geminis before and would be a force to be reckoned with.

Racing is from 9am Saturday and 8.30am Sunday.
