Book lover brings best reads to Warwick
IT'S the bookshop with no name, but what it lacks in identity it makes up for with its unique character.
Warwick woman Missy Bryson owns this quirky bookshop on the main street of town.
It's been open for two months and already it's been a hit with the bookworms of Warwick.
Ms Bryson said it was a store that chose quality over quantity in terms of its stock list.
"I bring in the best books from the different genres," she said.
"There's always something that you haven't read that you've been meaning to read."
She decided to collect the best from each genre after she realised she couldn't find the books she wanted to read in town.
The bookseller said she researched her novels extensively and checked the reviews, and would then read the book herself before ordering it in.
Not only does she collect the best titles, she also sells her books with alternative and minimalist covers.
"People often complain that their book shelf is full with books, but it's just ugly," she said.
Ms Bryson comes from a family of readers and said reading had always been a part of her life.
"My sister is a librarian and owning a bookshop has always been a dream of mine."
Business doubled at the shop during the Jumpers and Jazz in July festival with kids taking a particular interest in her collectable reads.
"The kids get really excited. They walk past and get excited about the bookshop," she said.
"It's the best stuff, you know? It's refined thoughts.
"That's a bit sad, isn't it; when some of your favourite people are characters from a book?"
It's fair to say Ms Bryson isn't alone with her love for stories.
The most popular book sold at her shop has been War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy.
"Jane Austen is what I would recommend," she said.
"So many people who don't read her would really enjoy her stuff."
Douglas Adams and Margaret Atwood are just some of her favourites.
The plans for her dream bookshop had been in the works for more than a year.
She hopes to eventually move into the 120-year-old building she works from.
