IT'S the week where reading is put in the spotlight and stories of all sorts are celebrated.

This Book Week brought some colourful characters out of the woodwork in Warwick, from Mary Poppins to the Very Hungry Caterpillar and even a couple of dinosaurs.

The Daily News issued a call-out to proud parents to send in photos of their little ones dressed up for the celebrations.

Check out the adorable costumes that were on display all around the city.

Aside from dressing up, Book Week is also a prime time to remember the joy flipping through a story can bring.

It takes the reader on a journey to a different place and time, a truly special way to while away a few hours.
