Boost for Cup hopes

WARWICK State High School boosted its chances of qualifying for the Arrive Alive Cup competition with a 32-20 victory against Concordia College at Eastern Suburbs Oval yesterday.

The home side scored early through lock Brody Whitney after Concordia dropped a bomb under its own goalposts.

Jesse McDougall converted from wide out for a 6-0 lead.

Concordia then scored two tries, one after two chip kicks from halfback Nisi Ipi.

Grady then levelled the score when he dummied from 15m to score just before half-time.

Concordia scored first in the second half before Warwick High took control.

The visitors had one player taken to hospital by ambulance early in the second half with a knee injury.

Prop Josh O'Brien scored two tries in the second half, Joel Bradfield and Tim Collins one each. McDougall kicked four goals. A game feature was the strong defence of Bradfield.
