Rodeo queens hit the white sands of the Gold Coast
BOOTS, belts and cowboy hats aren't your usual beach wear.
But the golden girls of rodeo have rocked their beach looks, looking as happy on the white sands of the Gold Coast beaches as they are in the dusty arena.
Visiting rodeo royalty have used a trip to the Gold Coast to promote the Warwick Rodeo, drawing plenty of attention as they walked through the mall and beaches at Surfers Paradise.
Miss Rodeo America, Canada and Australia were joined by Warwick Rodeo Queen Georgie Stower, signing autographs for fans and spruiking the benefits the country's biggest rodeo.
Tracy Vellacott, who has been showing the girls around Queensland, said it was a fantastic opportunity to put the rodeo on the map.
"The girls met with lifesavers and the iconic meter maids," she said.
"It was really nice to take them to get a glimpse of world class beaches that they don't have access to at home."
The Gold Coast trip is another notch on the rodeo queens' belts, following successful promotion in Toowoomba, Brisbane and Sydney.
Today the queens will travel to Stanthorpe, before returning to the Rose City to present the back numbers to the APRA finalists.
Mrs Vellacott said showing the girls around had been fun.
"It's nice to give the girls a glimpse of what we have to offer," she said.
