Bowlers boost attack for Warwick cricket team
CRICKET: Medium-pace bowler Andrew McConnell will debut for Maryvale- Condamine in today's clash with Inglewood at Inglewood.
McConnell played for Glenore Grove in the Lockyer competition and also played in third grade in Ipswich last season.
He now lives at Clintonvale.
Medium-pace bowler Mitch Darton has returned after missing the past two seasons, so the Maryvale attack should be stronger this season with the two additions.
Darton's last game for Maryvale was in a grand final victory three seasons ago.
Inglewood would have been below strength last week for round 1 when all games were cancelled but the side is expected to be stronger for the home game against Maryvale.
Tyler Wolff will captain an Inglewood team which will be similar to last year.
Allora will host Wheatvale in one Saturday game.
One of the major Allora signings is Tim Kajewski, who played Mitchell Shield cricket for Lockyer, before moving to Warwick with his family.
Gavan Scheiwe will again be a trump card with the bat and no-one should be surprised if his son, Mitch, impresses in his first full season of senior cricket with the Allora club.
A Rascals side with some new additions will play Redbacks at Slade Park today.
Tomorrow Warwick Hotel Colts will host Sovereign Animals in a game where the Fern brothers Thomas and James will play for a new team after moving from Sovereign to Colts.
