Our congratulations to Hewan on his 90th Birthday, and to be still playing very competitive bowls after 23 years, and at his age, is really a wonderful achievement. Thank you to Hewan and Mrs. Gibson for a very enjoyable bowls day and excellent lunch. There were several lucky raffle prize winners.

Last year, "The Grumpies” played wonderful music, singing song we could all remember, and dancing, made it the best party we have had. Warwick East Bowls Club
Last Thursday was the open triples competition. Unfortunately, due to many reasons, numbers were well down on previous months. Thank you to the bowlers who supported the game.

Then on Friday we hosted a visit-in from Wellington Point Bowlers. Sixty-two sat down for lunch prepared by the 'catering staff of Warwick East' and 52 bowlers enjoyed their game of bowls after lunch. Gifts were presented and received by both presidents of the clubs. The raffle was won by Gloria Brady and the second prize, donated by Venus Smith, was won by a Wellington Point member.
The Men's Carnival November 19 and the entries are good; the Ladies Christmas Hoy and Cent Sale Sunday, November 26; SDMDBA competition at Warwick East on Saturday, December 2 followed by a QIPRA visit bowls and dinner that night.
The Club 'cash for Christmas' raffle has commenced and the raffle will be drawn at the Men's Carnival. Saturday mixed bowls is on again this week. Remember the later starting time of 3pm. Names in by 2.30pm
Southern Cross Bowls Club
Today Wednesday will be our monthly Turkey triples starting at noon. Tomorrow Thursday, Nov 9 will be social bowls starting at 1pm and on Sun, Nov 12, there will be social mixed bowls starting at 1pm.

Warwick Indoor Bowls Association

Coming events are Senior Citizens open afternoon this Wednesday the 8th starting at1.30pm at Senior Citzs. centre Albert Street. St Andrew's Club will be holding their AGM on Thursday, November 9 at Williams Hall starting at 1.30pm.
On Wednesday, the 15th St Mark`s will hold their annual self-selected fours competition, starting at 7.30pm in St Mark's Hall there will be good trophies on offer plus 50-cent raffle, please call Ruth on 46613073. On Thursday, November 16 St Andrew's will be holding their last open afternoon for the year, it will be free to play, but we will have a 50-cent multi-draw raffle.
The Maroon Shield competition against Stanthorpe will be held on Tuesday, November 21. On Monday, November 27 the Bridge Shield is on at St Mary's Hall starting at 7.30 pm please nominate teams of four to Col at 46615932. Please send Col your notes for the next two weeks at 46615932.
Langham Slashers Golf
Last Sunday was our monthly Warwick RSL sponsored day which always draws a good field of players thanks to the RSL for their great support of our club. It was good to see popular club member Laurie King back playing and he had a great day posting a nett 17 to win the day from runner up Danny Lyons on nett 22, Dan had a great round of 42 off the stick to have the best gross for the day, consistent player Keith Clarke had the least putts with 13 Gary Millard & Laurie King shared the pins, Robbie Eastwell hit the longest drive and Graham Olsen was our Bradman Ball winner for the day. Next week we will tackle the back nine. I hope to see everyone next week.
Warwick Men's Golf

The annual Holden Scramble has now been rescheduled to 25/2/18. Sunday 12/11 we play the annual Mercantile Day sponsored by NAB. So, arrange your group and come and play this great social day. Event is open to golfers and non-golfers. To book ring the pro shop on 46613664.
The AGM of the golf club is to be held Monday 27/11 at 7pm at the Hawker Road Function Centre. Nominations for 2018 committee close next Monday 13/11. Nomination forms are located on the noticeboard in the clubhouse.
To nominate fill in a nomination form and obtain the signature of a proposer and seconder, both of whom must be full financial members of Warwick Golf Club and place the nomination back on the board before Monday 13/11.
Remember the clubhouse is closed on Mondays and Tuesday's so you won't be able to access the nomination forms on Monday 13/11. If you feel you can contribute to the running of WGC then nominate for committee. Thanks to all the volunteers who have helped with the re-turfing of the greens. Your contributions have been much appreciated and will ensure that our golf course remains one of the best in country Queensland.

Last Wednesday, November 1 we had a great field of 29 playing in the Cafe Jacqui's sponsored single stableford event. Ellie Casey had a fantastic 40 points to take home a lovely prize from Jacqui's with Judy Lester runner up with a great 38 points. We thank Jacqui for her generous sponsorship.
The All-In pin on the 7th was won by Judy and the graded on the 11th were A grade Melanie McLennan, B grade Karen Mackie and C grade Carolyn Abood.

Saturday was our last Monthly Medal for the year played in two divisions. There were some good scores in division 1 and the winner was Majella Kahler on a countback from Tub Ingall with scores of 69 nett. Jan Maher was the best in division 2 with 71 nett. This means Majella is now eligible the play in the Medal of Medalists on the 2nd December and Jan gets herself another entry. Tub was the overall runner up.
The putting was won by Janine Stewart with 24 putts and Patti Hemmings with 31. Great putting girls.

Remember ladies that the shootout is on December 3. There are still a few games left for you to qualify and there is a bit of a tussle happening for the final few spots. Also, our core skill lessons start this week for the Thursday and Friday ladies. This week we play in the Danny Lyons Sports trophy, and the following week in the Hawker Road Function Centre trophy. Congratulations to Sam the Pro for his excellent 2nd place in the QLD PGA last week on Hamilton Island, which qualifies him for the Australian PGA at the end of the month.
Well done to all Sporters members who turned out in force on Monday morning to help out our green staff and our band of volunteers with the re-turfing of the 3rd and 6th greens.
I am sure there would have been a considerable usage of Panadol Osteo on Monday evening for aching hands, back and knees.
The club is hoping to have the greens back in action by Christmas.
