Friday night our Bowls Christmas Party was held with 52 people attending and with everyone thoroughly enjoying dancing and singing to the music played by the Grumpies.

Our thanks to the lady members and Fay and Delcie, for the wonderful Christmas spread they provided.

Also, our thanks to Ann-Maree, Sam, Kathy, Alicia and Teigan for their assistance in the kitchen, which allowed our ladies more time out of the kitchen and able to enjoy the party.

There were 15 raffle prizes with the beautiful big hams going to John Ruhle, Don from the band and Steve Tyter.

Thank you to the members who also supplied prizes. Chairman Max Holder and lady president Trish Owens presented badges to the winners of the competitions played during the year, and a Super Veteran's Badge was presented to Joy Niven. Congratulations to everyone.

Also, a big thank you to barman Ken Hayes and to the male members for their help.

The overall winners were L Callaghans's team on 52 points and the runners-up were P Collis's team on 50 points.

The "Cash for Christmas” raffle was drawn on the day. The first prize winner of $500 was K Rogers from Innisfail.

The second prize winner of $200 was M Riddle from Inglewood. The club wishes to thank all those who supported the raffle, as well as the members who sold tickets in the shopping centre.

On Saturday, there will be mixed social bowls as usual. Play starts at 3pm with names to be in by phoning 46619050 between 2pm and 2.30pm.

Trophies and a chance to win the jackpot will be available.

Next Thursday will be our monthly Red Rooster mixed triples day. Play starts at noon, with names to be in between 10am and 11.30am.

Southern Cross Bowls Club

The Southern Cross welcomed the RSL Downs Diggers for a visit-in last Sunday for bowls and lunch.

Many thanks to Prickles for keeping an eye on the barbecue.

Winners on the day were V Brun, J Marriott and B Steven on lowest winning score.

The runners-up were M Steven, A Downey and D Busch. I can't give you the other results as the score cards went with the Diggers, but it was lovely to see the eight rinks being used.

This coming Sunday Nov 26 is the Southern Cross open Carnival which is being sponsored by the Warwick RSL and Warwick Hotel with starting time at 9am.

Langham Slashers Golf

On Sunday a small field of players teed off on the front nine to play for the Warwick Hotel sponsored day, Doug Mcbeth was our winner posting a great round of nett 18 two shots in front of runner-up Danny Lyons on nett 20.

Dan played some great golf to also have the best gross for the day with a fine 41 off the stick, Greg Owens has worked out how to putt on the temporary greens only needing 11 putts in his round to have the least putts for the day, Brett Donovon and Peter Balfour shared the pins Laurie King hit the longest drive on the tough third hole and Dave Speedy was our Bradman ball winner for the day.

Next week we will play the back nine come along and have a fun morning of golf, see you all next week.

Warwick Women's Golf

Last Wednesday, November 15, we played in our monthly Style Shoes single stableford off the white markers.

There were two fantastic scores of 39 points on the day which saw Jan Aspinall beat Mary Young on a countback. Great playing Jan and I'm sure Mary wouldn't have been too worried being runner-up as her score assured her a start in the shootout.

The approach on the 7th was won by sponsor, Melanie and the graded pins went to Janine Stewart, Janet Davis and Patricia Eastwell.

The balls in the run down went to Patsy McIntosh 35, Vicki Bennett 34 and the 33's Annice Payne and Gwen Porter.

The remainder of the field was as follows: Melanie McLennan, Jill Barnes 32, Judy Lester, Karen Mackie, Patricia Eastwell, Zel Crook, Anna Cox, Judy Stiff 31, Tub Ingall 29, Shann O'Connell, Janine Stewart, Jean Fysh 28, Helen Olsen, Ann Tomkins, Gill Young 27, Di Evans 26, Marge Burley, Jan Maher 25, Joan Burt 24, Janet Davis and Ellie Casey 21.

We had 22 players in the drizzly conditions on Saturday.

The winner with a great 69 nett was Joy Bowles, closely followed by Gwen Mills on 70.

The All-In pin on the 7th went to Ellie Casey and the graded on the 13th went to Janine Stewart, Joy Bowles and Anne Lyons.

There were 4 balls in the rundown, Joan Burt and Yvonne Pinington 71, Pam Kerr 72 and Tub Ingall 74. We have raffle tickets for the ladies shoot out available again which are $5 per ticket.

This is a bit of fun and who knows, you may draw the winner or runner-up of the shoot out and win.

The more tickets we sell, the higher the prize value.

A reminder that the Ladies AGM is on this Sunday the 26th at 1.30pm.
