Boxers to battle it out at state titles
THREE of the most experienced boxers in the Rose City Boxing Club will battle it out for state titles this weekend at Acacia Ridge.
Britnee Wallace, Jacob Wyllie and Jackson McMahon are all in peak fitness for the championships which start early Friday.
Wallace won a state golden gloves titles in the 57kg division two weeks ago.
Wyllie qualified for the 57kg final at the golden gloves but missed his chance to go for gold due to a chest infection.
McMahon was ranked No.2 in Queensland in the 70kg division last year and will be aiming for his first state title this week in the same division.
All three train under club head trainer Damien Lawler at the Warwick Boxing Club gym in Albert St.
"I have great expectations for these three boxers this weekend," Lawler said.
The trio headed to Toowoomba for a training camp at the weekend and sparred at a club run by Mick Shaw.
After this weekend, the club will have a three-week break before heading to Beenleigh for an Albert Boxing Club Tournament.
