Boy, grandfather find blades in grass at Calliope park

A MOTHER has warned families to be careful at Hazelbrook Park in Calliope after her son and his grandfather found sharp objects strewn across the grass.

Sheryn Brabon posted a photo to Facebook of the debris in a bucket, including at least three blades, a lighter and other smaller objects.

"Just wanting people to let their kids know to be careful playing around the park off of Morris avenue in Calliope," Ms Brabon wrote.

"My son went down with his poppy this afternoon and found all these blades still sharp and scattered throughout the grass (probably from being mowed over), but I'd hate for someone's child to go running through and fall either over or off their bike and to possibly seriously hurt themselves in the process.

"They were picked up and discarded of, but just a heads up in case."

The Observer contacted Calliope Police, who had not received reports of the objects. They are now looking into the matter.
