Local success at Killarney rodeo

SOUTHERN Downs cowboys Lachlan Slade and Callum Miller split second in the steer ride at the rodeo held in conjunction with the Killarney Show at the weekend.

The steer ride was won by Jesse McNalty.

There was more local success in the open barrel race with Rachael Clarke first and Warwick rider Bonnie Flood second. Flood was also second in the juvenile barrel race. Blake Weier won the junior event.

In the rough stock events, Damien Clarke gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about with victory in the novice bull ride.

The next show rodeo on the Darling Downs will be at Millmerran on Saturday with timed events from 1pm and rough stock from 6pm.

  • Juvenile barrel: 1 Kerrie-Anne Thorp, 2 Bonnie Flood, 3 Hilary Thrift.
  • Junior barrel: 1 Blake Weier.
  • Steer ride: 1 Jesse McNalty, equal 2nd Lachlan Slade and Callum Miller
  • Junior bull ride: 1 Jesse McNalty.
  • Open bullock ride: 1 Peter Degormois, 2 Josh Goodall, equal 3rd Jack Schouten and Mick Murphy.
  • Novice bull ride: 1 Damien Clarke, equal 2nd Sony Gray and Ben Palmer.
