Bra difficulties for stroke victim

LINGERIE does not always need to be exquisitely beautiful to win hearts. Sometimes it can be just the relief of good bust support.

For women who have suffered a stroke, putting on contraptions that have foiled teenage suitors through history can prove too difficult to manage.

As the daughter of a woman who is recovering from a stroke, Lindi Worthing understands how challenging it can be to manipulate bra hooks behind your back with only one usable hand.

It can be frustrating to be reliant on other people to fit such intimate apparel.

"Mum needed help and I got a woman in the physio department to research what was available. There are bras which hook up at the front - but they cost about $100 and are only available in Sydney," Ms Worthing said.

"I couldn't afford that, so I decided there had to be something I could make that was easier and cheaper," she said.

Necessity has almost always been the mother of invention and her creation of a modified bra with Velcro straps through D-rings can be positioned to suit the stroke patient's dominant hand.

Among our Clarence Valley community, there must be someone who can help Lindi Worthing extend bust relief with dignity to more women who have suffered a stroke?

Contact The Daily Examiner if you have some ideas which could help Lindi and her bra design.
