Mick Brackin works more magic with celebrity rodeo ride

RODEO: Mick "Magic Man" Brackin proved to be a wizard in the rodeo arena at the weekend as he dominated his fellow competitors in the celebrity bull ride at the Warwick Cowboys Rodeo.

As one of only two to make time, it was an easy victory for the experienced rider.

"I was just busy trying to work my feet, but I'm just glad so many had a go," Brackin said.

"I ended up landing on my feet."

Runner-up Trent "Knuckles" Achilles said he was pretty disappointed with his loss.

"I made time, but wasn't lucky enough. Good on Mick though, he deserved it," Achilles said.

Woodford bull rider Reece Weller beat a star-studded field to win the open bull ride at the Warwick Cowboys Rodeo.

He won from runner-up Ryan Dickens with APRA national record holder Fraser Babbington third.

Past Warwick Rodeo champion David Kennedy scored 81 at the weekend and didn't win a pay cheque, which, rodeo promoter Scott Keogh said, was an indication of the quality of the bulls and riders.

"We had four bulls from six contractors and Dan McLaughlin, of Toogoolawah, won the prize money when the judges chose his bulls as the best of the night," Kennedy said.

Former Calgary Stampede winner Darryl Joe Kong, of Thanes Creek, and Oakey's Wayne Hart were judges.
