Break-in at popular takeaway

THIEVES have struck R and Ks Takeaway overnight, causing a fair amount of damage and making off with cigarettes and chewing gum.

Warwick Police Senior Constable Fraser McLauchlan said when store owners arrived to open this morning they found the front door open.

"There was damage to the sliding glass door frame," he said.

"There was also damage to the till draw."

Not even the tip jar was safe at the McEvoy St takeaway, according to Snr Cons McLauchlan.

"The back office has been ransacked and the tip jar was also stolen," he said.

Police are continuing their investigations this morning and are encouraging anyone with any information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Warwick Police Station on 4660 4444.
