Breakers win epic 100th game
THE 100th NBL game at the North Shore Events Centre was one for the ages, as the New Zealand Breakers beat the Melbourne Tigers 108-98 in double-overtime on Friday.
Local boy Tom Abercrombie amassed a spectacular 33 points (6/9 three-pointers) and 11 rebounds, including a monster triple in the second extra period to seal the result.
"Any time you're in a game like that, it's very emotional and to come out on top is a great feeling," Abercrombie said afterwards.
"I thought we did a great job of being patient and executing our offence at the end of the game. I got most of my looks out of the offence - not going one-on-one - and I was able to knock them down."
Daryl Corletto scored 18 points against his former team, while Cedric Jackson (10 points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds) and Mika Vukona (10 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists) were also outstanding.
