BREAKING: 30+ arrested in major Whitsunday drug network bust
WHITSUNDAY police have arrested 37 people on 120 drug-related charges.
Detectives closed a major operation targeting drug networks in the region Thursday morning, resulting in the arrests.
Operation Papa Boolean, run over six months, led to a substantial quantity of drugs including marijuana, MDMA, LSD and cocaine being seized.
Whitsunday CIB officer in charge Detective Sergeant Chris Caswell said police also seized a large quantity of cash, which they will allege is the proceeds of drug crimes.
"This operation will put a significant dent in the drug trade in our community and we will continue to target these high level networks to make our community safer," Sgt Caswell said.
"We have successfully dismantled an alleged major drug network in the area and have made a significant number of arrests and charges, including six charges of drug trafficking."
Sgt Caswell said police were pleased with the outcome of the operation and would continue to pursue those involved in the dealing and trafficking of drugs in the local area.
