Family to sue over 'botched' birth

A STANTHORPE family is seeking millions of dollars worth of damages from the Queensland Government over what it claims was a botched delivery at the town’s hospital.

Dylan Wallace, 6, was born with severe physical and intellectual disabilities in 2004.

The Wallace family have filed proceedings in the Supreme Court to begin legal action against the State Government.

Their lawyer, Vicki Holmes, says the firm will allege the action of doctors at the hospital contributed to Dylan’s injuries.

“It is alleged for at least an hour preceding his birth at Stanthorpe Hospital he was starved of oxygen to his brain and as a consequence of those events during his birth he has suffered cerebral palsy,” she has stated.

A date for the hearing has not been set.
