UPDATE: Three people hurt, hwy closed after five-car crash

UPDATE: Three people have been transported to Toowoomba Hospital and the New England Hwy remains closed after a five vehicle crash near Nobby tonight.

Emergency services crew are tidying up at the scene of the crash at the Sister Kenny bridge, south of the Nobby turn-off.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said nobody was trapped in the vehicles following the accident.

Traffic is being diverted through Clifton and Nobby while crews remove crash wreckage.

The highway is estimated to be closed for at least another 15 or 20 minutes.

 

EARLIER: EMERGENCY services crews are on the scene of five-vehicle crash on the New England Hwy near Nobby.

Initial reports from the scene at Missens Flat, just south of the Nobby turn-off, suggest there have been no serious injuries in the crash.

A man is reportedly being treated at the scene for a blow to head.

It is not clear at this stage what caused the vehicles collided.

Motorists are being encouraged to avoid the area.
