BREAKING: Hancock has double in Jillaroos huge semi victory

THE Australian Jillaroos have set up a mouth-watering clash with New Zealand in the Women's Rugby League World Cup after a comprehensive 58-6 victory over Canada.

Killarney player and captain Steph Hancock scored a double in the one-sided contest.

The first came in the first eight minutes after a barnstorming run close to the Canada try-line, with her second scored in similar fashion in the 68th minute.

Hancock was taken off with a stinger to her shoulder midway through the first half, but returned to play in the second 40 minutes.

Former Scots PGC student Heather Ballinger wasn't selected in the final 17, however will be pushing for a spot in the decider.

Australia was relentless in the first half, racing out to a 42-0 lead at the main break thanks to doubles from Alli Brigginshaw, Isabelle Kelly and Karina Brown.

Canada struck first in the second half through Natasha Smith, but ultimately the dominance of the Jillaroos was too much to handle.

In the earlier game, New Zealand made light work of England, running out comprehensive 52-4 winners.

Australia will take on New Zealand as a precursor to the Australia v England men's final at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday.
