Havoc as fuel spills near explosive factory in highway crash
UPDATE 11.15AM: AFTER nearly three hours, the Bruce Hwy has reopened near Rockhampton.
The Hwy has been closed, with traffic backed up for about 6km, since a 4WD carrying 200L of fuel rolled in the middle of a bridge near the explosives factory.
The scene has now been cleared.
UPDATE 10AM: ONE lane is now open as emergency service clear the Bruce Hwy crash site outside the Bajool explosives factory.
Traffic had been backed up 4km. A tow truck has loaded the damaged 4WD.
UPDATE 9.15AM: A BAJOOL community member has confirmed traffic is backing up on the Bruce Hwy after a single vehicle rollover the morning.
It is understood a 4WD hit the side of a bridge and rolled just before 8.30am, spilling its load of 200L of diesel.
Two lanes of the Bruce Hwy are closed.
UPDATE 8.45AM: A VEHICLE carrying 200 litres of fuel has rolled on the Bruce Hwy about 30km south of Rockhampton outside the Bajool explosives factory.
It is understood a dual-cab vehicle was carrying a 200L tank of diesel when the crash occured and the fuel is now leaking onto the road.
The two occupants of the vehicle are out of the vehicle and are being assessed at the scene.
It is understood two lanes of the Hwy is blocked at this stage.
BREAKING 8.30AM: EMERGENCY services are responding to the Bruce Hwy near Bajool following reports of a traffic crash.
Initial reports suggest a vehicle has rolled near the explosives factory. Fuel is leaking on the road.
It is understood police are on scene, with QAS and QFES en route.
Motorists in the area are urged to drive with caution and expect delays.
