BREAKING: Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Warwick

THE heavens have opened on the Rose City, and they are expected to stick around for the day.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Warwick and other areas of the Darling Downs following the conditions.

BOM meteorologist Jim Richardson said Warwick could expect further testing conditions for the day.

"Storms were developing relatively early around the Darling Downs,” Mr Richardson said.

"There is a warning out for the area for damaging winds and large hail stones. High winds are aloft.

"Storms are moving through the area, and we are expecting it to weaken as it reaches the coast.

"This storm will probably pass in the next couple of hours, but it could start again in the afternoon.”
