Breen Bros right on target

THE Breen brothers from Wheatvale hit form at the right time to take nine of the 10 wickets to dismiss Goomeri Giants for 17 at Dunning Oval yesterday.

James Breen took 5-7 off four overs including a hat-trick in the Doc's XI victory against a Goomeri team which has proved to be one of the hardest to beat in carnival cricket in the past two decades.

All three hat-trick victims were bowled; such was the accuracy of James.

His older brother Jack finished with 4-6. Luke Roberts capped off the bowling with 1-0 off three balls.

After his success, Jack said his aim was to swing the ball both ways.

"I like bowling out-swingers to the right handers," he said.

"My aim is to concede no more than 20 or 25 runs in 10 overs in club cricket."

An apprentice diesel mechanic at Wickham Freight Lines, James is keen to play more representative cricket for Warwick.

Yesterday, his team was calling him Big Show after Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.

"Whatever he does, I can do better," James said with a smile. "I don't leave the ball in front of the stumps. I bowl express, he bowls spin."

Jack said his bowling yesterday was his best for the season.

"I was really happy with my bowling and reckon I only bowled three or four bad balls."
