Brisbane team lends a hand with bushfire burning near Pilton

THE Brisbane Emergency Response Team will be in Warwick today to take control of the Warwick Incident Control Centre at the fire station which has been the nerve centre for efforts to control a large blaze on Heifer Creek Rd, east of Pilton.

Area commander Hemmo de Vries said more than 1000ha had been burnt in recent days.

"The fire started on the southern side of the Heifer Creek Rd and crossed the road on Wednesday night but the majority of the burnt country is south of the road," he said.

There has been no fire damage to structures other than an old stable and old shanty which had not been used for many years.

Yesterday, there were five units on the scene, including a four-truck strike team from the south-east area of Queensland.
