Britney’s shockingly racy New Year’s Eve
BRITNEY Spears went out on a high from her Las Vegas residency of four years - with a showstopping, sexually-charged performance involving over nine costume changes.
The 36-year-old superstar delighted fans with her final gig at the AXIS, Planet Hollywood, as she cavorted about in a variety of sexy lingerie-style get-ups - with her trademark wireless microphone in pride of place, reports The Sun.
For one segment, the star danced round a pole in barely-there lingerie with fishnet tights - as adoring fans captured the New Year's Eve performance on their phones.
Britney also changed into a series of revealing bodices, plus an angel outfit that cascaded down to the stage from a great height, and a ringmaster's costume.
At one point the singer was also lifted above the heads of topless male dancers, and at another she performed in a literal ring of fire.
Pop icon Spears, who is currently dating 23-year-old dancer and model Sam Asghari, certainly set the bar high for the next big star to be getting a Vegas residency - Lady Gaga.
Earlier this month, Gaga excitedly took to social media to tell her fans, or "little monsters", the good news about her upcoming string of dates at the MGM Park Theatre, something which she described as a "lifelong dream".
But artists like Britney, Cher, Bruno Mars and Celine Dion will tell Gaga that performing residencies for long periods is no picnic.
And Spears, who began her Piece Of Me residency way back in December 27 2013, has been performing her show 50 times a year for four whole years.
Spears' many costume changes conspired against her in November this year when she flashed the crowd while wearing a black bra top - which was then swapped for a more secure crisscross style bra.
In August, the star was left shaken after a man rushed the stage while she was performing in Las Vegas before being taken down by her security team.
The 35-year-old was in the middle of singing her last song, (You Drive Me) Crazy, when a man rushed onstage.
Her security team quickly surrounded her and she could be heard asking her team, IS everything okay? What's going on?'
She then asks 'He's got a gun?'
Her security team and muscular back-up dancer managed to pin the man to the ground.
He appeared to knee one of the security guards as he was being taken offstage.
Spears has been performing her Las Vegas residency since 2013, taking more than $US100 million.
