Broken records
THE largest organic fruit salad, longest straw chain and most lemons cut in mid-air were among the quirkier records set at Gladfield at the weekend - but the most important one was surely the most trees planted in an hour.
Treehenge senior consultant Maryanne Thompson said about 90 people gathered for the Wild World Records event at the Treehenge site on Saturday, to help make it into the history books by planting 130 trees.
She said it was exciting to see just how many people got involved in the unique event aimed at raising awareness.
Despite not getting quite as many trees in the ground as first thought, Mrs Thompson said it was a great effort.
"The conditions were tougher than we thought which slowed us down," she said.
"But it was really positive with a great atmosphere and getting people to look at the property," she said.
"It's generated a lot of interest. There will be future plantings."
Treehenge is a project that has started to transform a rundown farm at Gladfield into a living, breathing memorial.
When fully grown, the trees will form the shape of a henge which will be visible from the air.
