Brothers from Allora to battle it out at Mayhew Oval
CRICKET: It will be Allora versus Allora and one Morris against two of his brothers in the Warwick reserve-grade cricket grand final at Mayhew Oval on Saturday at 10am.
Major semi-final winners Allora will play Railway Hotel Rascals in the reserve- grade grand final.
Allora captain Aaron Vietheer said his side was going into the match with confidence despite only having 10 qualified players available.
"Luke Cullen is on holidays and Nick Goltz has a broken finger from work so can't play. They have been our backbone all season but we are still confident,” he said.
"Andrew Peterson hasn't played the required four games so can't play in the grand final but I am hoping he will be at the game and give us a full team on the field.
"We used 20 players all season but not all played enough games to qualify for the finals,” he said.
Vietheer said the key for his team was dismissing Morris brothers Tom and Joe early, along with Jake Christensen.
Rascals captain Brad Johnson expects some friendly battles between the Morris brothers on Saturday at Mayhew Oval.
"Nick is the oldest of the trio and is a class all-rounder in the Allora team,” he said. "They tend to get each other out a fair bit.
"Tom and Joe are most likely to be our new ball combination.”
Johnson is wary of Allora young guns Sean Bryson and Stewart Henderson.
After the final, reserve- grade players will head to Slade Park to watch the end of the A-grade final and end-of-season presentations.
The reserve-grade game will be 40 overs a side, with A grade 50 overs so the Mayhew Oval game should finish 90 minutes before the game at Slade Park on Saturday.
