Brothers lead the scoring for Warwick
BASKETBALL: Josh Cremasco led the scoring for Warwick Wildcats with 31 in a 106-98 victory against Harristown Runnin Rebels in round 1 of the inaugural Big Q competition.
It was almost a battle between the Cremasco brothers for leading scorer with Josh scoring 31, his brother Sam 30 and Dom 20.
Dom said he had no idea about the other teams in the competition so it was hard to say how Warwick would go this season.
"We weren't expecting to win on the weekend as the majority of the team haven't played for a while,” he said.
Dom and Sam Cremasco and Dean Clark will all travel from Brisbane for Wildcats games.
It was the first game this year for Dom who played for the Ipswich Force in the Queensland Basketball League in 2015 and 2016.
He was one of the stars when Warwick previously played in the tier 2 Queensland competition, the Southern Basketball League.
Warwick also won the reserve-grade game with a 54-43 win against the Rebels. Connor Thornton scored 18 points for Warwick and Kevin Globio 15.
While the Wildcats prevailed in the men and reserve grade, the Rebels won the women's 48-43 and the under-12 game.
Warwick player Kayla Gabriel has been involved in college basketball in America and led the Wildcats scoring with 17.
The Wildcats men will play Granite Belt at 7pm Saturday at WIRAC. Reserves at 5pm. Club basketball each Wednesday from 6pm at WIRAC with more players welcome.
