Brothers ride rings around Allora Show competitors

ALL their practise in recent weeks paid off for brothers, Connor and Blake Feltham of Clifton, who took out the double in the local riding classes at the Allora Show on Friday.

Nine-year-old Connor was judged Champion Local Boy Rider, on his pony, Gunner, while 12-year-old Blake received the broad ribbon for Reserve Champion on his Australian Stock Horse, Danrio Park Raelene.

Both members of the Allora Pony Club, the brothers have been practising their riding for several weeks in the lead up to the Allora Show.

Their step-father, Warwick Murnane, said the boys would also compete at the Clifton Show this weekend.

"As well as the riding classes, both Connor and Blake show our stock horses in the led classes," Mr Murnane said.

"They have been practising at home, and are mad keen on riding at the moment."

Blake is also an enthusiastic campdrafter, with Connor having his first draft this year.

The Champion Local Girl Rider at the Allora Show this year was won by 15-year-old, Sally Gilbert on her horse Timmy.

Ten-year-old Emily Tynan was judged Reserve Champion Local Rider on her pony Shaun.

After competing in the ring events on Friday, Emily then donned a different hat showing her English Toy Terriers in the dog show on Saturday.

"I have three dogs and they are only 12 inches tall, with short coats. They aren't as bad to get ready as my pony," Emily said.
